Mexican Royal Ebony, otherwise known as Katalox, is a unique and very dense hardwood from the Yucatan peninsula. Its workability is very similar to other Ebony and in fact, it's listed as a suitable substitute for Luthiers in place of African Ebony. Dark, rich purple/black color ages darker over time. Kiln dried and surfaced on two sides.
